Our garden buildings are less than 2.5m high and therefore typically exempt from UK planning conditions and permitted development, even if it's close to the boundary of the property. This frees you from legal restrictions and allows you more freedom to choose your ideal site. You can now consider more personal factors such as the amount of direct sunlight it'll receive, how easy it is to access and its aesthetic appeal. 24MM DOUBLE GLAZED TOUGHENED GLASS.Our industry-leading 24mm-thick, sealed-unit double glazing is supplied as standard on 45mm cabins. We make these sealed units at our own factory, to European Standard EN1279.
Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass, it's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year. We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It is much more difficult to scratch or bend than the plastic alternatives, such as Styrene, Acrylic, and Perspex, so it'll preserve the clear view of your garden. The tempering process makes toughened glass far stronger than the alternatives, and harder to break than normal glass. In addition, if it does happen to break, it will shatter into many small pieces, rather than scattering dangerous shards. Your security is of the upmost importance to us. The single side door features an industry leading domestic standard 4-point locking system consisting of mushroom-headed espagnolettes which slide in opposite directions, as well as a 6-pin Euro cylinder which has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification. Making it difficult for intruders to break in and steal your precious belongings. Most companies will use a cheap and simple 2-point locking system. For us it's a no brainer - Why would you compromise your security when we offer the best on the market! Oint lock with espagnolettes and a key locking handle. ADJUSTABLE HINGES, FRICTION STAYS, STORM BRACES. You've probably at some point left the window open and it's suddenly started to rain. Usually, this would be an issue for log cabins with normal window hinges as they could rust. However, there's no need to panic as our expertly joined windows come with our 5-star stainless steel friction stays, typically found on the uPVC windows in your home. This eliminates the needs for the typically found stay arm openers, commonly used on log cabins. Unlike other log cabins on the market ours are supplied with storm braces as standard, to tie the log cabin together. These are adjustable to allow for natural movement of the cabin, which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move over time. PRESSURE TREATED BEARERS - 10 YEAR GUARANTEE. All of our garden buildings have pressure treated floor bearers as standard. As they are exposed to the damp, cold ground. This treatment will prevent them from rot, decay and insect infestation for up to 10 years. Due to this costly but effective process, we can offer our customers a genuine 10-year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers.
We only suggest that you apply a good quality water repellent to prolong the longevity of the timber. Shockingly still some of our competitors offer untreated bearers to keep their costs down. Who wants to have to annually deconstruct and re-treat the bearers each year! We do not offer installation. All our garden buildings have been designed for the DIY market and supplied with full pictorial instructions. Despite the care we take in selecting the very best Timber available, it can still be unpredictable as its very nature is to be porous and swell up when it gets wet. Any wooden product will do this throughout its life, but there are a few things you can do to help limit this movement. We would recommend that you use an appropriate water repellent treatment. This helps minimise the amount of moisture that the timber can absorb and thus minimises the risk of any major movement. (Please note: water repellent treatment is not the same as pressure treatment). 2 Plastic Vents are included which keep your timber building ventilated and to allow any moisture to evaporate.
This is especially important if you plan to cover up your floorboards with something (double-check with an expert, that the material is suitable to do so), as moisture can become trapped between layers of non-breathable materials, leading to floors becoming rotten. Whether you opt to build your product yourself, don't be afraid to tighten the odd bolt here and there. Your product is a long term investment, so it's only right to give it some love and care from time to. Make sure that it's properly treated before the rainy months, and that you make adjustments to doors and window frames when needed. We recommend a flat, level concrete base with an allowance of at least 100mm on each side. A 4m by 3m building would have a base of 4.2m by 3.2m. We only use full lengths of engineered precision cut and routed tongue and groove timber in our log cabins.
These logs are planed, leaving you with a smooth finish and a more aesthetically pleasing and stronger product. Other companies are happy to provide you with rough offcuts, glued and finger-jointed together, creating a weakened cabin and an off-putting appearance. Our cabin models come in different sizes you can choose from. This allows us to ensure consistent quality of our products and precise cuts made by our machines.
